Annual Membership Event for AWE

held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 was a great success! There was great excitement as the ribbon was cut and the courtyard was dedicated at Arkansas High School. Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this a wonderful place for AHS students to gather and enjoy!

Texarkana Arkansas School District in January announced the 2011 recipient of the Arkansas High Distinguished Alumna Award, our own AWE President, Mrs. LeAnne Purifoy Wright! Mrs. Wright is a graduate of the class of 1986.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.  She also completed her Master of Science in Adult Education in 2006 at Texas A&M University - Texarkana. Mrs. Wright is the Director of Institional Advancement at Texas A&M University - Texarkana and serves as the Executive Director for the Texas A&M University - Texarkana Foundation. Mrs. Wright is also an active member of her community and of her church.  She is married to Tim Wright and they have a son, Anderson, who is a sophomore at Arkansas High School.  Arkansas Women for Education is proud of LeAnne and we extend our congratualations to her for this award.
